Soup Run grateful for donations

The MK Soup Run is delighted to have received a donation to boost its supplies of soup and other items.

Facilities Manager & PA to the Director at MK Gallery, Jo Trotter and colleague Nikki Braithwaite have been collecting for the Soup Run over the past few weeks and have handed over a large box of soup, coffee and multi-packs of crisps.

Jo said she wanted to do her bit to help the homeless and needy in Milton Keynes.

A Soup Run spokesman said: “We are delighted and grateful to receive individual donations such as that given by Jo and Nikki.

“If anyone else would like to make a donation – either of goods or monetary please contact us using the I Want To Donate form on the website.”

What is the MK Soup Run?

The Soup Run operates five evenings a week on the streets of Central Milton Keynes serving soup, hot drink, sandwiches and other food items to the homeless and needy in our city.

After preparing the soup, hot water and sandwiches we visit three different places at set times each evening. These are:

› 7.30pm outside the railway station side of Argos in Grafton Gate.

› 8.00pm outside Iceland food store in the Food Centre, Avebury Boulevard.

› 8.30pm outside the JobCentre in Midsummer Boulevard.

You will see that we are NOT a Soup Kitchen – we do not serve from a warm indoor venue. Rather we go out on the streets in all kinds of weather – rain or shine, cold or hot.

The Soup Run has been operating for a decade and in the time since we have seen the number of clients increase dramatically as number of homeless in our city has gone up and those in work have increasingly found it difficult to make ends meet.

We always welcome donations of non-perishable goods, especially tomato and chicken soup, jars of coffee, teabags, disposable cups or financial contributions. If you are interested in helping in this way please contact us here.
